New premiere: GRANDFATHER’S SKIN
On December 11, 2026, the Jewish Theatre will premiere a new production: *Grandfather’s Skin* (*Skóra po dziadku*), based on the work of Mateusz Pakuła and directed by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz.
In his second novel, Mateusz Pakuła once again turns to family history. We are transported to Kielce in the early 1950s—the very heart of the Stalinist era. The author’s grandfather ends up in a Kielce torture chamber following a youthful prank. The man who comes to his aid opens a window onto the city’s history—marked by the Holocaust and the Kielce Pogrom—as well as the story of the first generation.
What kind of memory have we inherited from our ancestors? What do we do with this legacy? Can we forge our own identity from it?
*Grandfather’s Skin* is a story about memory, family, and a history that does not end with a single generation.
More details about the production coming soon.
