Houdini. A MAGICAL ODDYSEY

The greatest magician in history, America's first celebrity, descendant of Jewish immigrants and escape artist returns to the stage in an escape musical which tells the story of his life and the mysterious death that his widow, Bess Houdini, tries to clarify. Every year on Halloween she holds a spiritualist séance, waiting for a signal from her late husband, who has eluded death more than once. When séances fail and the world prepares for war, the moment Bess loses faith in Houdini’s powers, he appears – and kidnaps his wife for a magical odyssey. Mr and Mrs Houdini visit London, Paris, New York and Warsaw – where Houdini meets Pilsudski and, doing a magic trick, he helps Poles win the battle known as the Miracle on the Vistula River. Can the illusionist and magician stop the war?

“Houdini. A Magical Odyssey” is an escape musical and yet another, after “Circus Kafka”, journey to a time when esotericism mixed with technology and fear for the future with faith in freedom, symbolised by the most famous Jewish trickster of the 20th century: Harry Houdini.
